Beta is coming and we’re really excited about the new version, what it has to offer and we hope you enjoy all the extra functionality we’ve developed for you.

In order to make sure everything goes smoothly, we’re going take the site down for a short period of time. Billster will be unavailable Saturday 20th between 10:00 – 12:00 GMT, that’s tomorrow don’t you know, or today if you count the fact midnight passed an hour and a half ago (someone isn’t as well preparred as they’d like to be!).

Here is a list of the larger features we’ve been developing for the Beta release:

- Organisations under connection type.
- Connection actions have been increased.
- Convert a connection.
- Delete a connection.
- Filtering bills by a connection.
- Duplicate a bill.
- Extend a bill range.
- Infinite bill type.
- Cleaner graphs and graphics.
- Enhanced tag manipulations and information.
- Enhanced search functionality.
- Daily, weekly and monthly account summary emails.
- New FAQ section.

We’d also like to say a big ‘thank you’ to those of you who took the
time to give us your feedback on our Alpha system, we really appreciate it.

• Assign Bills against Organisations (you all wanted it – here shortly!)
• Extend a Bill series (not made the bill series long enough – no problem!)
• Bill duplications (Lunch at the same place different day – its covered!)
• Flagging multiple bills as paid (reduce those clicks!)

We hope that it should be up and running by December – watch this space!

There has been much discussion on whether or not this is actually a good idea. “Surely getting people to register for an account means that they are more likely to use the system after they’ve gone to the trouble of setting up an account with you.” But the final decision was that we would rather people only register if we are going to improve their web application experience, “They should know if billster is going to help before they go to the trouble of signing up” we don’t want another stale user in another web app, remember it is still early days and we can’t please everyone…….yet

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have taken time out of their busy schedules to help us get where we are – treats (you’ll notice that your icon will change soon and you’ll get special VIP access) will be applied in due course!

One thing we have noticed now that we have starting to get a quite a few hits, our server just can’t hack it so we have just ordered a dedicated server which should be ready in just over a week. After we’ve got that up and running we’ll upload our last bunch of bug fixes and hopefully make the leap to Beta.

Thanks to everyone who has taken some time out to test and provide feedback, your cuddly toys will be winging their way through the post to you soon*.

We’ve only got just over 100 users now registered, most of which are friends or friends of friends, and most of those have been due to me badgering people over Google chat or in the pub.

I’m currently in the process of writing a press release, and once I’ve put it passed some of my marketing and PR buddies I’ll get that out there and we’ll no doubt we’ll start getting some of the general public interested, who I’m guessing won’t be so easy to please.

This release has full Bill, Connection (that’s what we call the users) and Tag management, mixed within lots of sexy AJAX and animations, we hope you love what we’ve done so far!

There is still lots of functionality that is in the pipe line, and each element will be added onto the system as soon as we’re happy for you guys to get your dirty little fingers on them.
